MATAMATA NEWS.
METHODIST INDUCTION. The Methodist Church, Matamata, was well filled on Thursday evening,, the occasion being the induction of the Rev. J. 11. Hall, lately of Russell, Bay of Islands. Rev. 11. J. Odell (Te Aroha) addressed the new minister. Rev. \V. A. Burley, chairman of the South Auckland’ district, addressed the congregation. Addresses of welcome were also delivered by Messrs P. T. Field, J. F. Vosper, R. Hawke and T. Bellamy (Te Poi). After the Rev. J. H. Hall had replied, supper was banded round and a social hour spent. Obstetrical Fund. The local response to the appeal for funds for the establishment of an obstetrical chair at the Otago University amounted to £4l 8s 7d. Rest Room. The various committees are working hard collecting for this object in the various districts, and the campaign will be concluded by a dance in the Town Hall' next Wednesday evening. A- large sum 'has already been collected, but the amount will not finally be disclosed till the finish.
