CAMBRIDGE TOURNAMENT. MRS GIFFORD WINS SINGLES. The singles match of the Cambridge croquet tournament was concluded yesterday. The scores were:— Section A. Mrs Goldsbury beat Mrs Tucker. Mrs Tucker beat Mrs Ardern. Mrs Gifford beat Mrs Tucker. Section winner, Mrs Gifford. Section B. Mrs Badeley beat Mrs Pearce. Mrs Hall beat Mrs Coombes. Mrs Hall beat Mrs Finch. , Section winner, Mrs Badeley. j] Section C. Mrs Burrett beat Mrs Woller. Mrs Burrett beat Mrs Clarke. Section winner, Mrs Burrett. Section D. Mrs Brabant beat Mrs Hopkirk. Mrs Hopkirk beat Mrs White. ) Mrs Hilton beat Mfs Brabant, j Mrs Hilton beat Mrs Bryant. Mrs Brabant beat Mrs Bryant. Section winner, Mrs Hilton. Section E. Mrs Parker Hill beat Mrs Smithera ► Mrs Parker Hill beat Mrs Yardley. Mrs Hawkin beat Mrs Cutforth. Mrs Martin beat Mrs Smithers. Mrs Martin beat Mrs Cutforth. Section winner, Mrs. Martin. Section Play. In the section play, Mrs Martin will play Mrs Burrett, and Mrs Gifford will play Mrs Hilton. A splendid contest took place in the final, which was fought out by Mrs Gifford, of Tauranga, and Mrs Badeley, of Mount Hobson. Each of the three games was closely contested, the scores being as follows: —No. 1, Mrs Gifford 26, Mrs Badeley 18; No. 2, Mrs Badeley 26, Mrs Gifford 20; No. 3, Mrs Gifford 26, Mrs Badeley 23. In the last game Mrs Badeley stopped at the last hoop, when her opponent had only made one hoop. Mrs Gifford then took the balls and made a break of 12 and two 6’s, and won one of the best contested games seen on the Cambridge courts-
