Operatic was still out in front as they raced across the top, his nearest attendants being Biddy Comet, Hannibal, Land Measure, Stonehenge, Good Idea, Royal Finance and Lady Day. Operatic showed the way into the straight to Biddy Cornet, Land Measure, Sir Mond, Hannibal, Good Idea, Lady Day, Royal Finance and Stonehenge, In the run to the judge Sir Mond finished strongly to overhaul the pacemaker, Operatic, by threequarters of a length with Hannibal half a length' away third. At the first fence, Archeen, Quincoma and Opa fell. Airtight led past the stands followed by Grand Arch, Dark Prince, Harbour View, Mountain Guide, Negress and Thursby. Airtight was still bowling along freely in front along the back, attended at this stage by Grand Arch, who made a faulty jump. Then came Dark Prince, Harbour View, Thursby and Mountain Guide, with Negress tailed off. Airtight led into the straight from Mountain Guide, Crown Arch, Dark Prince and Harbour View. Over the final stages Mountain Guide challeneged Airtight, the latter, however, lasting long enough to prevail by a neck. Major support, in a good betting race, came for Bright Glow who was sent out with £1,117 10s from Eager Rose (£870), In the Shade (£BOS 10s) and Eaglet (£797 10s). Eaglet showed the way out of the straight to Eager Rose, Kawainga, Corinax, Lucy Rose, Maori Roy, In the Shade, Royal Doulton, Hipo and White Fang. Along the back Eaglet was the pilot from Eager Rose, Kawainga, Corinax, Lucy Rose, Maori Boy, In the Shade, and Royal Doulton. Eaglet, Eager Rose and Corinax were the leaders across the top and turned for home in that order with Lucy Rose, Royal Doulton, Kawainga, Maori Boy, White Fang and In the Shade racing next. In the run home, In the Shade challenged his stable mate, Eaglet, the latter prevailing by a neck from her challenger who was a length in front of Corinax. At the end of two furlongs Wild Time was still the pilot bowling along in front of Hard Words and King Ford, who were together, Lady Quex and Paganelli, with Green Linnet tailed off. Wild Time led into the straight from Hard Words, Paganelli, Lady Quex, King Ford and Green Linnet. Paganelli and Lady Quex fought it out, the latter winning nicely by half a length from Paganelli who was two lengths in front of Wild Time. Ruling Chief led into the straight from Chromadyne, Norval Tea, Treasury, British King and Cruachan. Chromadyne won by three-quarters of a length from British King who was one and ahalf lengths in front of Carl Idem. Murphy, paid 110 guineas for a Roger De Rusli colt. A Romeo —Lady Kerman colt was offered on account of Mr Alison of Auckland, but was passed at 80 guineas.

A Manfred —Frances Tressady filly was bought by the Warwick Farm trainer, H. Andrews, for 650 guineas.
