RECEPTION

FOR BRIDE-TO-BE. Over 200 guests assembled in the Coronation Hall, Toko, Taranaki, on tlie occasion of a gift evening tendered recently to Miss Lucy Jones on the eve of her marriage to Mr Eric Rose, late of Toko and now living in the Waikato district.

The evening took the form of music and dancing, songs being rendered by Mrs W. Davis, Miss C. Milne and Mr A. Sextus, with Miss L. Sextus as accompaniste. For the dance an orchestra consisting of Mrs Mayhead and Miss Griffiths (piano) and Mr A. Sextus (violin) supplied delightful music, extras being played by Mrs M. Chainey and Mr C. Chainey. On behalf of those assembled, Mr T. T. Murray caused the great array of parcels to be opened, displaying over 1 00 gifts, which, when set out for inspection, made a splendid tribute io the popularity of Miss Jones. Mr Murray spoke of the regret throughout the district at her pending departure and reviewed her activities in assisting so willingly in all functions of the district. Mr M. Gernhoefer also paid tribute to the many fine qualities possessed by the guest of the evening. Mr W. J. Poison, M.P., replied on behalf of the family, and Mr Rose on behalf of Miss Jones. Ladies' of the district provided supper, after which “Auld Lang Syne" was sung.
