An artist, employing Atkinson gave evidence that his drawing was automatic. When he tried to draw by conscious effort he made a hopeless mess. He had lately been turning out weird landscapes, suggesting prehistoric country. Deceased was depressed by his failure to sell the drawings.
The body of an artist, W. H. Atkinson, who formerly resided in New Zealand, was found in a lodging house in York, Marvlebone. Death had been caused by gas poisoning.
