BUTTER AND CHEESE. LATEST LONDON QUOTATIONS. (By Telegraph —Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Monday. Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., have received the following cable from London: — , „ Anchor butter is now 1265, and other finest 1245, with fair sales on'firming prices:: Danish, 138 s spot, now asking 1335. Retail prices unchanged. Cheese: White 745, coloured 765; very firm on continued good demand. Retail price unchanged.* MERCHANTS’ ADVICE. Amalgamated Dairies, Limited, has received the following cablegram fiom its London house, dated Apirl ii- in the early part of the week the maikei looked like going below 120 s, under strong “ bear ” pressure. W e took the opportunity provided by a delay in the unloading of certain steamers in dock and advanced the price. On a fair demand for spot goods we succeeded so far, establishing finest at 1265. Large sales, however, had already been effected by certain importers ex steamers in dock" at 120 s for finest. We fear this will make the “ bears ” active and will bring down prices to at least that figure. Danish, 138 s spot, now asking 133 s f.o.b. Deliveries: New Zealand, 1347 tons. Stock: 6814 tons. Retails unchanged. Cheese: White, 745; coloured, 765. Very firm on continued demand. Retail unchanged. Leonard and Son, Limited, has received the following cablegram from its London house, dated April 11: — Butter: New Zealand, finest, 1245; first grade, 1225. The demand is good and the market firm. The outlook is uncertain. Cheese: New Zealand, white, 735, 745; coloured, 755, 765. The demand is active and the market advancing. The- outlook is that it will probably advance further. Deliveries: New Zealand and Australian, 2473 crates; Canadian, 5183 boxes. Stock: New Zealand and Australian, 112,067 crates; Canadian, 108,937 boxes. RANGIRIRI STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:—At our Rangiriri stock sale an average yarding of cattle was penned. Prices throughout .were on a par with late ruling rates. Quotations: Light fat steers, £9 18s; light fat cows, £5 to £6 12s 6d; forward conditioned cows, £4 7s 6d to £4 19s; vealers, £2 ss; cows with calves,'£6 2s; store cows, £2 10s to £3 12s 6d; potting bulls, £3 to £6; heifers, running with bull, £4 10s to £6 7s 6d; Jersey and Jer-sey-cross heifer calves, £2 9s to £3; others, £i 9s to £2 ss; Shorthorn steer calves, £2 3s to £3 ss; dairy heifers, £6 to £9; dairy cows, to £9 10s. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report:— At both-our Cambridge and Rangiriri sales yesterday, small yardings of cattle and pigs were penned, owing no doubt to the second day of the Hamilton races. We quote: Fat cows £7 15s to £8 ss; medium fat cows, £6 to £6 13s; store cows, £4 to £5; boner cows, £2 10s to £3 3s; cows and calves, £6 8s to £7; weaner steers, £3 12s to £3 18s; weaner heifer calves, £2 8s to £2 18s. Pigs: Porkers, £1 £ls; stores, £1 2s to £1 6s ; slips, 15s to 18s; weaners, 7s to 10s.
