RESPECTED CITIZENS
PILLARS OF WINTER SHOW. MOTIONS OF SYMPATHY. Feeling reference to the late Messrs G. Edgecumbe and John McCavv, two pioneer residents of Hamilton, who recently died,- was made at the meeting of the Waikato Winter Show executive this morning by Mr J. R. Fow, president. Mr Fow said Mr Edgecumbe had taken a very active interest in the show from its earliest days. Even when the weight of years pressed on him, he had visited the show regularly, and, indeed, seemed an essential part of it. The late Mr McCaw was also one deeply interested in the public affairs of the district for a long period. In both cases these departed gentlemen had spent the evening of their days under very happy circumstances. While their deaths were deplored, the manner in which they had left these scenes could almost be envied. The president also commented on the death of Mr Norman Bradley, a competitor at the show, who -had been cut off in the flower of his youth under tragic circumstances. A motion of condolence with the relatives of the deceased was carried, members standing in silence.
