FARMERS’ UNION.
HORSHAM DOWNS BRANCH ANNUAL CONCERT AND BALL. The Horsham Downs branch of the Farmers’ Union held its annual concert and hall on Thursday night. The hall was packed with an appreciative audience, and every item was enthusiastically encored, some of the , artists having to respond twice. During the evening Mr and Mrs T. 11. Henderson and daughter were the recipients of presentations prior to their departure for England on an extended holiday. In presenting Mr and Mrs Henderson with a handsome rug and Miss Henderson with a hand-bag, Mr R. MacCorquindale eulogised the good qualities of the recipients and regretted the loss incurred by the district by their departure. Mr Boyce and Mr Baker endorsed the previous speaker’s remarks. Mr Henderson feelingly responded on behalf of himself, his wife and daughter, after which, all present formed a circle round the guests and gave them three rousing cheers and sang “ Auld Lang Syne.” 'Dancing was then resumed until after mid-night. The concert programme contributed by Hamilton artists, was as follows : Songs, Mr T. Watson and Miss Gliffe; comedy and humorous songs, 'Mr R. Blackic, Mr W. Fenton and Mrs Watson; impersonations and musical monologues, Mr 13. Peace; violin solos, Miss Bradley; dances, Miss B. Syers; concertina solos, Mr Emerson; duets, Messrs Blackic and Watson. Miss Whitlock was an efficient accompanist. The dance music was supplied by J. McGuire’s Syncopators. ' The organisers of the concert were Messrs Daldy and R. Blackie and the M.G., Mr Baker.
