YOUNG MAN’S FIX.
PAY UP OR GO TO GAOL, ARREARS FOR MAINTENANCE. A young man appeared before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., at Hamilton today, charged with being in arrears to the extent of £ll 7s Gd for the maintenance of his illegitimate child- Defendant is now married, with one child of the marriage. He told the Magistrate that he was only’ earning £3 15s per week, and was unable to pay the amount claimed. The Magistrate told the defendant that he should have discharged his obligation to the first woman before marrying the second. He would have to borrow the money or sell his furniture or something. He would he sentenced to one month’s hard labour, to be released on payment of £ll 7-s Gd. The warrant would, however, be suspended so long as he made a current payment of 17s Gd a week punctually, and 2s Gd per week in respect of arrears, the first payment to be made on the 18th instant,
