TE AROHA NOTES.
DISTRICT HAPPENINGS. Waihou School Jubilee. The Waihou School will celebrate its jubilee about November tins year, and it has been decided to extend a special invitation lo Sir James Parr, who in 1880 was registered as No. i on the school roll. School Dental Clinic. Decidedly useful work is being done by the school dental clinic, which has thoroughly justilied its existence, and it has been decided to apply to the Department of Health for the appointment of an extra nurse. For the month of March the nurse in charge reported as follows: The number of children examined totalled 79, including 47 new patients. These were pupils of Te Aroha, Waihou, Waitoa and Manawaru schools, entailing 393 operations. Patients completed during the month totalled 63, as follows: Waihou 29, Waitoa 23, Te AroLa 11. A Presentation. Prior to leaving for a holiday trip to Australia Messrs C. F. and Russell Horn were presented by the residents of Easlport Road with a fountain pen and suit-case respectively. In making (he presentation Mr T. WagsLaff wished the recipients bon voyage and a safe return. Druidical Installation. The installation or Bro. P. Bygrave as District President of the Druids’ Lodge took place on Monday evening, the Past District President, E. E. Harvey, olhciating. A social followed, 150 guests attending as representatives of Thames, Waikino, Piako, Auckland and Olago Lodges. Mr W. F. Bates (Oddfellows) Introduced the subject of an amalgamation of lodges affecting the Foresters, Druids and Oddfellows in Te Aroha, to be named the Tje Aroha United Friendly Societies’ Welfare Club. The delegates would meet on Thursday of next week, when progress would be reported. A lengthy toast list was honoured.
