DISEASE BY PLANE.
NEW PERIL OF THE AIR. The remarkable suggestion that infectious diseases are liable to be spread by aeroplane traffic was made at the Congress of the League of Nations Eastern Bureau for Epidemio logical Intelligence at Batavia, when it was considered what measures it might be desirable to recommend to quarantine stations to combat this danger in view of the gradual development of flying services -between Europe, Africa and Asia.
The Advisorj- Council also discussed various items for the co-ordination of scientific research, especially the results obtained by various health administrations against cholera and the use of dried vaccine against smallpox. As regards the latter, the opinion was expressed that the use of dried vacciiV offers special advantages for vaccination on board ship, in view of the practically unlimited duration of the potency of the vaccine.
General Graham and Dr. Ganthier called on the Postmaster-General, M. Van Weeldren, to express appreciation on behalf of the Congress for the active collaboration of the Netherland East Indies wireless service in the diffusion of epidemiological information by the Singapore Bureau.
