NEGRESS ON LINKS.
WOULD NOT BE INSULTED. THREAT TO A THREESOME. A negress, with a coloured boy as caddie, attracted attention at Moore Park golf links during the week, says a Sydney paper. She was very well dressed and had a style which indicated that she had been well tutored. Her caddie also knew his work.
About half way round a threesome caught her up, and ignoring the etiquette of the game, proceeded to drive over her head. One ball missed her caddie by inches. A couple playing just in front volunteered to wait and allow her to go through, telling her that they would see that the rules of the game were observed. She expressed her thanks, but resolutely declined. “They don’t know' this darlde if they think they can insult me!” she said, her eyes flashing. “They won’t get in front, and if a ball strikes me or the boy they will remember it a very long time!” When last sighted, she was proceeding serenely on her way, with the threesome closely behind, but at a safe distance. One had overheard what she had said. .
