SURVEY PARTY WITHDRAWN. UNEASINESS FELT. CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. It is reported from Blenheim that, the party which was engaged in completing the survey of the South Island Main Trunk railway has been withdrawn and sent to undertake a survey of the proposed new Lewis Pass Road. On its recent visit to the railway works the Marlborough Progress League came to the cpnclusion that the completion of the survey, so that contracts could he invited for bridging and tunnelling, was the most urgent requirement of the project, and representations lo this effect were to be made to the Minister. In view of the withdrawal .of the survey party at, this juncture, with the work far from complete, considerable uneasiness is being felt among those interested in the progress of the railwax.'
