OBSTETRICAL APPEAL.
A SUBSTANTIAL CHEQUE. LADY BLEDISLOE’S INTEREST. SEVERAL TOWNS EXCEED QUOTA. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) STRATFORD, Wednesday. Indicative of Lady Bledisloc's interest in the problems affecting the well being of New Zealanders and her unostentatious way of doing good in her Dominion is the receipt by Dr. Doris Gordon, secretary of the Obstetrical Society, of a substantia! cheque from Her Excellency to he a donation to the Dominion fund l'or the Obstetrical Endownment Appeal. With it Lady Blcdisloe sent a message expressing her personal sympathy with the objects of the appeal and her best wishes that it will soon terminate as a complete success. Her Excellency has consented to speak at the final "function to he held on April 9 for the appeal in the Canterbury area.
Dr. Gordon says that news has come that the first town in the Auckland district to secure its quota is Rotorua, while in the Wellington district, Waverley, Marton, Taihape and Martinborough have exceeded the assessments requested of them. Dr. Gordon says this is deserving of commendation.
