“This man’s difficulties are of his own making, and cannot be pleaded as an excuse for him,’’ remarked his Honour Mr Justice Blair in the Napier Supreme Court, when referring to a case in which a plea was being made for a bankrupt. “His case reminds me of that of the man who murdered ids father and mother and then asked for leniency on the grounds that he was an orphan,” remarked His Honour.
