“GIVE HAMILTONIANS WORK.”
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I notice that a Hamilton Arm jfs advertising in Auckland for assistants. Are there no Hamilton girls out of work and available to fill these „ ...positions ? Local firms depend on . to support them by giving them their patronage and support, and the slogan is everywhere seen, _ s “Shop in Hamilton.” Then why not give us another slogan, “Give Hamiitenians work?” I can hardly credit • r that there is no unemployment in Hamilton amongst our girls. We ; should try and keep the trades going steadily here, as if we were to spend our money in Auckland and elsewhere the local traders would all be on the warpath. Without being petty at all, ~ I consider we should all be helping ij one another at the present juncture, when competition is so keen and the Government of the country so uncertain in its movements to relieve unemployment.—l am, etc., ~ ' “OUT FOR PROGRESS.”
