ON THE AIR MAP

IWURCHISON’S FIRST PLANE. WAIKATO PILOT’S PEAT. m:~. , Congratulations on being the first to establish communication with Murchison by air have been extended to Captain M. G. McGregor, of Hamilton Airways, Limited. The chairman and clerk of the Murchison County Council have written to Captain McGregor as follows : —“ Wc recognise the importance to this district of your having demonstrated that Murchison is within reach of the outside world by air, especially because of the fact that at least one experienced aviator expressed the opinion that the use or aircraft was not practicable here owing to the mountainous nature of the country. Anything that is done to bring our county into line with other places in the march of progress is a matter of gratification to the people, and your splendid achievement marks an important event in the history of the community, and district.

“ On behalf of the council and inhabitants of the county of Murchison we wish to express to you our warmest thanks and appreciation for having put Muchison on the (air) map.”
