MEETING OF COUNCIL. APPOINTMENT OF INSPECTORS The Morrinsville Borough Council) met last night. The Mayor, Mr W. McPherson, presided, and the follow-' ing were also present:—Crs. Chapman, Duncan, Morrice, Martin, and Reason. The .engineer (Mr Branch) ’ was also in attendance. The Morrinsville A. and P- Association thanked the council for the use of the Recreation Grounds and assistance in connection with the recent show, and asked permission to charge for admission on a day to be set aside for the 1931 show, and requested that a large drain at the back of the grandstand be filled. —The requests were granted. Mr D. Barlow applied for water meter connection at Kiwitahi, and agreed to pay cost of connection, cost of water meter, and the council’s water charges.—Application granted. James Robson’s application for a, license for a taxi cab was granted, also an application from H. G. Hewlett for a van. W. H. Robertson’s application for permit for alterations and additions to house was granted and Mrs E. S. Webb's request to be allowed to subdiivde her property on Hamilton Road and Avenue Road was also granted. Town Clerk's Report. The Town Clerk reported that it was necessary to pass a fresh resolution authorising the bank to honour the council’s cheques.—The necessary steps were taken by the council. The Town Clerk also reported that the £BOO debenture for the Town Hall site\ matured during the coming The Mayor explained that the sinking fund "at the time of maturity would amount to some £799, so that onlv a small amount would be required to make up the full amount. It was decided that the council meet at 7 p.m. after April, instead of 7.30 p.m. as at present, and that the baths be kept open until Easter Tuesday. ~ , ... . The borough solicitor submitted a draft amendment to By-law No. 4, relating to the baths. The matter was held over until next meetingAnzac Day. The necessary arrangements for the. observance of Anzac Day were left in the hands of the Mayor. Accounts amounting to £o3l 4*i were passed for payment The Borough Engineer (Mr Branch) was appointed Inspector of Dangerous Goods and Mr F. B. Collins inspector of hawkers and itinerants.
