SWIMMING.
THE OHAUPO CLUB. SUCCESSFUL CARNIVAL. The Ohaupo Swimming Club held its first annual carnival at the Ohaupo Lake in glorious weather and before a large gathering of swimming enthusiasts from far and near. The swimming and novelty events indulged in by the local swimmers provided an excellent day’s entertainment for the public. During the afternoon Mr W- Lee Martin, M.P., addressed the gathering and expressed great pleasure at see-
ing such a grand swimming made by the club for the encouragement of swimming amongst the children of Ohaupo and the surrounding districts. The following were the results pi even ts: —Men’s maiden handicap, 33 1-3 yds., B. Elliot I, H. Finlay 2; ladies’ championship, 50yds., M. Lethaby 1, J. Sage 2; men’s championship, 100yds., J. Turney 1, H. Tipla y 2; boys under 16, 33 l-3ycls., iC. Finlay 1, B. Ransfleld 2; girls under 16, 33 l-3yds., J. Sage 1, L. Fipld 2' boys, neat header, C. Finlay 1; girls, neat header, C. Hutchinson .1; neat header, open, B. Elliot 1; greasy pole, B. Ransfleld; neat dive, Geo. Hogan 1, treacle bun race, H. Rowell 1. Numerous races for children brought the carnival to a close.
