TE RAPA SCHOOL.
PICNIC AT THE LAKE. CHILDREN’S ANNUAL OUTING. A very happy day was spent at the Hamilton Lake, when the children of the Te Rapa School and parents and friends gathered for the annual picnic. The committee and school teachers were kept busy as they distributed fruit, lollies, and ice cream to each scholar and a present to each pupil in the primers. The races proved exciting, and the following were successful: Boys, under 10, Trevor Blunt 1, Howard Moreland 2; girls, under 16, Colleen McKinder 1, Beverley Kemble 2; boys, G to 9, Ken McKinder, 1, David Kuffell 2; girls, C to 9, Phyliss Barber 1, Doreen Moreland 2; boys, 9 to 11, Horace Holmes 1, Marcel Gattin 2; girls, 9 to 12, Esrna Harwood 1, Dolly Powell 2; boys, 11 to 13, Harold Harwood 1, Allan Blunt 2; girls, 12 and 13, Vera Hook 1, Rona Olsen 2; girls, 14 and 15, Doris Holmes 1, Jean Smith 2; marathon race, Ivan Blunt 1, Roy Johnston 2; girls' three-legged race, Vera Hook and Doris Holmes; boys’ three-legged race, Ivan Blunt an“i Roy Johnston; wheelbarrow race, Allan Blunt and Harold Harwood; skipping race.
