CONCERT AT THE LAKE. A POPULAR ENTERTAINMENT. The popularity 'Of the Lake as a picnic ground and swimming resort has not in the least diminished, if the crowds that were assembled. there yesterday afternoon are any indication. The water attracted many, hut the majority sought the shade of the trees, where they were entertained by the Waikato Regimental and Hamilton Municipal Band, under the baton of Sergeant-Major M. K. Mara. The band was strong in numbers and the programme that was rendered was much enjoyed. Marches, hymns, and selections were played, while a popular item was a cornet duet with band accompaniment. The following items were rendered during I lie afternoon: March, “The Vedette”; overture, “Golden Gross”; waltz, “Gold and Silver”; cornet duct, “Ida and Dot”; hymn, “Abide With Me”; cornet solo, “The Rosary”; march, “Punchinello"; National Anthem. •
