The second and concluding day of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club's annual meeting was held to-day in ideal weather, before a large attendance of the public. The course was in splendid order. ' Flying Swift soon took charge showing the way past the stands the first time to Taumai, Glenstar, Star Comet, Grand Arch and Freyja. Along the back Flying Swift, Taumai, StarComet, Glenstar and Grand Arch, were in that order. Taumai running to the front when he jumped the rails inside the course five furlongs from home and fell. _ Glenstar led across the top from Flying Sxxift, Grand Arch and Star Comet. Glenstar was the first over the last fence from Grand Arch, Star Comet and Flying Swift. Glenstar won by three-quarters of a length from Grand Arch who was two lengths in front, of Star Comet. Half a mile from home Mauriaena had charge from Grand Tea, Lucky Alice, Perennis, Snow Prince, Quinsilia and Page Boy. Mauriaena was the pilot into the" straight from Lucky Alice, Page Boy, perennis, Snow Prince and ® Quinsilia. Page Boy looked like winning when Quinsilia came with a fast “ r un on the outside to get the verdict by half a length from Page Boy who was a similar distance in front of Perennis. Panther wound up favourite in the Ilutt Handicap,, a go.od betting race. Roval Saxon jumped out first from Vali and- Arikiwai. Malayan soon took charge to lead round the top from Dolamite, Vali. Royal Saxon and Panther, with Full Feather tailed off. Full Feather pul in smart, run racinground to the turn where there was little between Malayan, Arikiwai, Full Feather and Vali with the rest bunched. A great race home saw Arikiwai weaken and Full Feather take charge. Full Feather went on to win by half a length from Great Charter who came with a late run. Vali was a neck away third, a head in front of Panther. Royal Saxon and Arikiwai were next The Big Event. Star Stranger was an odds on favourite in thc Trentham Gold Cup. He acted as pacemaker a length clear of Concentrate with Rapier two lengths' back for a mile and threequarters. The pace was slow, the first furlong taking lm 4 4-5, five furlongs, lm 18is, one mile lm 4945, mile and quarter, 2m 17s, and mile and a-half, 2m 43 4-ss. The pace was then turned on and at the false rail Concentrate held up and actually headed off Star Stranger. Gray then sat down oil the favourite to ride one of the finishes of his career and Star Stranger gradually came again under the whip to win by a, neck. Rapier was six lengths away. The winner received an ovation. A Good Finish. Palm was a good favourite, with St. Mjeiim again at a long price in the Muritai Handicap. Paris began smartly from Auctioneer, St. Melba and Gay Crest. Paris and Kiriana led at the half-mile from Cay Crest, Royal Opera, Grecian, High Society, St. Melba and Palm. The order was much Ihe same into ihc straight, where Pahu, Auclionecr and Cay Crest ran to Ihc out-' side rails. Grecian took charge a furlong from home, bid SI. Melba finished very solidly and in a great finish spread right across the course. St. Melba won by a length from Grecian, who heat Pahu by half a length.
