ATTEMPT AT MILE RECORD. A meeting of the committee of the Waikato Trotting Club held last evcn'ng, was attended by Messrs H. \V. Burch (President), J. Dalgleish, ,1. Fraser Smith, S. J. Rawlinson, M. McKendry, D. D. Wilson, T. Clarkin, A. B. Cassidy, A. Livingstone, J. Teddy, 11. >E. Tristram and T. G. Reynolds (secretary). An apology for non-attendance was received from Mr Campbell Johnstone. Matters of detail in connection with the arrartgements for the autumn meeting of the club at Claudelands on Saturday, April 5, were discussed and decided upon. It was decided that the admission charges, be the same as at last meeting, viz., 2s outside; 3/6 lawn (men) and 3s (ladies). Mr W. T. Carr’s name was added to the list, of extra stewards for the coming meeting. A Prominent Draw. The President reported that Air Wilfred Johnstone had expressed his willingness, if conditions were favourable, to make an attempt on the world's grass mile record at Hie club's coming meeting with his champion, Peter Bingen, the dual New Zealand Cup winner. The committee, in accepting Mr Johnstone’s offer, resolved to write (banking him and to do everything in I heir power to bring Hie track iacilities at Claudelands up lo concert pitch. It was felt that-the appearance of peter Bingen would be a great draw. The attempt on the record is to be put on Immediately after I lie Waikato Handicap, Hie leading event at the coming meeting. Handsome Trophy Donated. It was announced that Mrs Burch and the President, Mr Burch, had provided a case of cutlery to go with Hie cash prize lo the owner of Hie winner of the Waikato Handicap at the coming meeting. The trophy is a very handsome one and the appreciation of the committee was expressed last evening towards me donors. The trophy is to lie displayed prominently within the next few days.
