MORRINSVILLE stock sale. The Farmers’ Go-operative Auctioneering Go., Ltd., report: We held oui Morrinsville stock sale yesterday < when when we had a good yarding of ail classes of sheep and a medium yarding of cattle. Competition on beef was not quite so keen, although last week’s prices were easily maintained. The sheep yarded consisted mainly of breeding ewes and lambs. Competition for lambs was good, especially for poorer sorts suitable for dairy farmers, and the whole yarding changed hands under the hammer at satisfactory prices. The specially advertised line of breeding ewes on account of Mr J. T. Hawke, were a very choice lot of big framed ewes suitable for an early lamb. There was keen interest displayed in this line by the various buyers, the first 600 being purchased by Mr Angus Gibbons for 25s Sd; while (Mrs M. Bruce, Whalawhata, purchased 492 at 25s 8d ; Mr W. W. Livingstone of Matamala secured 330 at 25s 4d and Mr 11. Rhodes Paterangi. 128 at the same figure. ‘.Mr Hawke’s 4 and 5-vear-old ewes averaged 24s 6d. Other ewes sold at late rates. There was an extra heavy yarding of pigs (667 yarded), and a full attendance of buyers. Competition was keen and practically the whole yarding was sold at advanced prices. A line of 60 choice baconers on account of Mr J. Grayden averaged £4 11s, and 33 on account of Mr R. J. Mears averaged £4 12s. Baconers sold at equal to 7}d to 73d per lb., while porkers realised 74d to 73d. Quotations: Fat wethers, 265; fat ewes, 16s 6d; best woolly lambs, 13s 6d 1o J4s 2d; best shorn lambs 13s 6d to 16s 3d; smaller lambs, 11s 8d to 12s 3d; 4-tooth to 5-year ewes, 25s 6d ; 2toolh ewes, 25s to 28s Gd; s.m. ewes 18s 3d to 20s; medium fat bullocks, £l2 15s; fat heifers, £9 19s: fat cows best £8 to £9 7s 6d : plain, £6 10s to £7 15s; forward cows, £5 15s io £6 8s: cows and calves. £8 2s to £10; steer calves, £2 10s to £3 ss; heifer calves, £2 12s Gd to £3 7s Gd.
