PICNIC OUTING.

C. L. INNES & COMPANY

INAUGURATION EXCURSION

AX OUTSTANDING SUCCESS

Messrs. C. L. Innes and Company, Limited, held a very enjoyable and successful picnic yesterday to Duder’s Beach, 14 miles from Papakura. The members of the staffs of the four factories, at Auckland, Hamilton, Te Kuiti and Taumaranui travelled with their wives and families at the expense of the firm. The picnickers took the train to Papakura and the company’s lorries carried them to the beach. About 200 happy excursionists arrived at ttie beach, which is an ideal spot for a picnic, and they quickly settled down in the shade of the trees to lunch.

Mr. F. T. Innes, Managing Director, welcomed the guests of the firm, and after wishing everyone a happy time expressed the hope that the fixture would be the forerunner of many others.

The outing was an outstanding success in every way. Milk, hot water, drinks, ice creams and sweets were provided and all the children were given presents on the homeward journey.

Sports were held in the afternoon and the large entries and exciting finishes went a long way in making the picnic a success. With the sports, swimming and sun-bathing the afternoon passed only too quickly, and when the time came for packing up all were reluctant to leave.

Mr. R. 11. Paterson moved a vote of thanks on behalf of the staff to Mr. Innes, (he managing director. This was carried by acclamation. Cheers were loudly and enthusiastically given for Mr. Junes and for Mr. Duder for the loan of his property.
