OTOROHANGA BANKRUPT.
SICKNESS AND FIRE LOSS. The reasons for the bankruptcy of Stanley Brighton Hemmings, labourer, of Waharoa, late of Otorohanga, were investigated by the acting-official Assignee, Mr G. \V- Brown, before one creditor, at Hamilton yesterday afternoon. ‘ , Bankrupt submitted a short statement in which he attributed his position to family sickness, unemployment and the loss by fire at Otorohanga of li! s homo and furniture, on which there was no insurance. He could produce no assets. The ■ schedule showed debts amounting to £lO6 ISs Id owing to unsecured creditors, and no assets. There were ii creditors, chiefly storekeepers. After an examination of the bankrupt the Official Assignee came to the conclusion that ii was a waste of time truing further into the matter. It was of no use creditors bringing pressure to bear, as bankrupt was evidently not in receipt of sufficient wages to meet any debts at present. The assignee pointed out to bankrupt that if he were abio to pay any amounts they had to be sent to him as official assignee for,distribution among tiie creditors. There being no quorum no resolution could be accepted-
