WaJmate : Nortft was" the 'scene'/of a historic'; event,, yesterday, when the centenary of the . foundation Of ; the first •' Inland Mission in New Zealand was ' celebrated, arid a Lych-gate in memory of SamueL Marsden and the pioneer missionaries, was unveiled. The' Primate officiated, assisted by Bishop Bennett,, the first Maori Bishop. • ’ TvVenty-six ’ clergy, seventeen of them. Maoris, took part in the church service and Communion in the openair in the morning, and the very impressive unveiling of the lych-gate in the afternoon. There was a Maori welcome later, and', a service in the evening, when ' Bishop Bennett preached.
