BOISTEROUS WEATHER.
ALL SPORTS ABANDONED. CAMPERS INCONVENIENCED. Boisterous weather was experienced in Hamilton on Saturday, a steady downpour of rain setting in early in the afternoon, continuing until late in the evening. AH sports fixtures had to be postponed and campers throughout the Waikato who had been buoyed up by the promise of. hotter weather finally gave up in disgust and joined a long procession of cars homeward bound. Haymaking has been seriously interfered with, and some days will elapse before cut paddocks can be dried out and stacked. In certain cases crops have been ruined and farmers will have to rely on a prolific aftergrowth for winter fodder. 1 In the 24 hours from Saturday morning up to 9:30 yesterday morning .72 inches of rain fell in Hamilton and the surrounding districts. A sharp thunderstorm was experienced at 3 o’clock. Undismayed by threatening weather on Sunday morning some 400 took advantage of the Sunday excursion train to Humilton from Auckland, while over 100 IGFt foi‘ Auckland from the Frankton and Hamilton Stations.
