I LOVE THE BUN. Mummy says when the sun shine; strong, I must put my large hat on, And it flops all round about, It quite spoils my whole ‘‘look-out" When I look up to see the skies, My large hat flops right in my eyes; Then when I run and play at games I feel I’d like to call it names. Besides, I love the yellow sun; He must wonder what he’s done To be shut out by a brim That tries hard his light to dim. I’ll ask my mummy to cut out Several holes all round about, Then to All them up with lace To let the sunbeams kiss my face. THE CANDLE. (Sent by Rona Ross, Ilillcrest.) The candle's like A little knight, ••" y - \ With golden helmet • ■ Shining bright. ' And though my room v Is high and dim I never feel Afraid with him. For often when I think I see Black goblin folk Who stare at me, He draws a. circle Round about And keeps the prying Goblins out. THE FAIRY RING. \ (Sent by "Golden Primrose," 10, Kaipaki.) When sleepy people seek their beds, Close their eyes and nod their heads, Little elves' come out to play, Making such a flne array, Playing -with the Fairy Queen, Making sure they are not seen. OUR BEST FAIRY. (Sent by "Lover of Animals," Rotokauri.) Under the trees, down by the dell, Lives our dear fairy we love so well. Her smile makes one happy, Her voice sounds like bells Chiming so softly, And love-words it tells. Her hair is not raven, Nor black—no —nor brown, But a bright, shining silver, The same as her gown. And, oh, she’s so tiny, And pretty and fair, And tells such nice stories We love to go there. She’s really Mum’s mother, < But we think it strange, For Mum is much bigger; We think they should change, But she’s our dear granny, And we love her our best, And rush down to see her When Mother says “Yes."
