The rapidity of the world’s scientific march was strikingly manifested by two announcements to-day. Sir Ambrose Fleming, speaking at the Imperial College of Science declared that television would soon bring a cricket test match, the Lord Mayor’s Show, or a ’Vasity boatrace wirelessly upon the home screen. .While speaking of images of human faces being televised from tho Baird laboratory four miles distant, Sir Ambrose made a second announcement stating that home “ talkies ” would soon be available. They would be of minature size, and would be purchased in the same way as gramophone records- The admirers of a particular film would be able to purr chase a copy for their permanent entertainment. .x.
