Two months ago Berlin was the brightest, gayest capital in Europe, outrival ling Paris for luxurious night life. The dance palaces were open all night. To-day many fashionable establishments have been closed, and the city is undergoing a sudden change. Proprietors complain that the Berlin people are remaining at home in increasing numbers, and decline to patronise late restaurants, cabarets, and beer gardens- One by one the great electric signs are disappearing. Berlin’s attempts to steal Paris’ thunder have failed, at least temporarily. , .
