.g> SIR LAWRENCE WEAVER. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel.—Copyright. (Received Jan. 11, 10-5 a.m.j LONDON, Jan. 10. The death has occurred of Sir Lawrence Weaver, aged 53, journalist and author. MR CARL HEMTSCMEL. LONDON, Jan. 10. The death is announced of Mr Carl Ilentschel, a member of the Corporation of. the City of London. He was supposed to he one of the original characters in Jerome K. Jerome's “Three Men in a Boat.”
Mr Carl Hentschel was aged 65. He was the inventor of the Hentschel colourtype process and was the pioneer of newspaper illustrations and process work.
MR J- B. REID.DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL BANK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. The general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand has received cable advice of the death of Mr J. B. Reid, late of Oamaru, a director of the bank, on January 9, from inflammation of the lungs. MR. FRANK RAYMOND. TIMARU Friday. The death has occurred of Mr. Frank A. Raymond, accountant, and member of the Power Board. MR JOHN ACKERS. The death has occurred of Mr John Ackers, who resided at Wa'ro for many years, and was regarded as one of the fathers of the mining industry. MR LESLIE E. SARGENT. WAIMATE, Saturday. The death occurred last night, -after a brief illness, of Mr. Leslie Ei. Sargent, aged 28, manager o fthe Waimatc Daily Advertiser . for the past eight years. ■ Deceased, who was single, is survived by his mother, brother and sister.
