HAMILTON MARKETS. WEEKLY GUOTATIONS. Fruit. Little business was transacted in the lcoal fruit inarts over the holiday.',, and supplies, owing to the wet weather, are not plentiful. Prices are now more stable, however. The failure of the Otago apricot crop has been responsible for a marked scarcity of this line on the local markets, and though this vraiety will not be available plentiful supplies of Thames apricots are making their appearance- This variety is of exceptional quality this season and should adequately meet the demandPrices range for first grade from 5s to 6s, and for jam quality 4s to ss. Christmas plums, which are in good supply, are selling from 3s to 3s GJ, Sharp’s Early 4s to 4s 6d, and cooking 3s to 4s a case.

A few early peaches are now coming to hand, quotations ranging from 8s to 12s a case. Owing to the prevalence of blight tomatoes are more scarce than last year, prices hardening as a result. Hothouse and choice outdoor varieties are selling at lOd to Is, and first grade (outdoor) from 8d to lOd; others, 4d to 5d per lb. Bananas are scarce, latest quotations being 40s a case. American new season's navel oranges are quoted at 37s to 42s 6d a case.

Vegetables All lines of vegetables are in heavy supply. There is a poor inquiry for potatoes, while onions are selling more freely than has been the case for several weeks. Following are the latest quotations: Potatoes, 4s a bag; onions, 4s 6d a bag; cabbages, Gs to 7s; cauliflower, 8s -to 10s a sack; green peas, Gs to 8s a sugar-sack; French beans, 8s to 10s a sugar-sack; rhubarb, 33 6d a dozen bundles; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, Is a dozen bundles. Poultry. Only a few head of poultry came fonvard at the Hamilton weekly sales this week, there not being sufficient to indicate a range of quotations. Fish. Inclement weather has had a marked effect on the local fish markets. Only a small supply of flounder and schnapper is available, but it is anticipated that with a return of fine weather ample supplies of all varieties will reach the local markets. Deep-set fish especially are very scarce. Dairy Produce. The retail price ol' butler remains firm at Is Bd, Is 7d and Is Gd, while eggs disclose no alteration at Is 2d per dozen wholesale.
