AN INDISCREET OFFIOER. REMARKS KEENLY RESENTED. United Press Assn —Elec. Tel.—Copyrlgrht. SYDNEY, Jan. 7. A storm of indignation has been aroused in the press of Australia over certain comments in an article contributed by Major H. C- Porter to the issue of the Army, Navy and Air Force Gazette published in London on October 17. In the article referred to Australia was described as a “ black man’s country.” The writer’s comments were in the nature of advice to exservice officers who were considering migration to this country. He appraised British Columbia highly and saw distinct promise for his brother officers in New Zealand. The Prime Minister, Mr J. H. Scullin, has expressed resentment at Major Porter’s remarks. He says they cannot 'be taken seriously, however.
