PRICES MAINTAINED. AT FRANKTON YARDS. AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS. There was a good yarding of all classes of stock at yesterday’s sale at Frankton. % There were, if anything, fewer store cattle and pigs. The animals generally were of good quality, particularly the sheep and pigs, though the cattle were showing slight effects of the weather. There was keen bidding from the usual attendance of buyers. Prices varied very little from the rates ruling at the last sale on December 17. The following table shows a comparison of yesterday’s prices with those of the previous sale: This week. Last sale. Auctioneering Co. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:. At the weekly sale in the Ifrankton yards there was a good yarding of all classes of stock. Steer, beef sold at late rates .while good quality prime fat cows •sold steadily until the end of the sale, when they eased slightly. There was a good. supply of fat sheep, and these also showed an easing tendency. There was good competition for a few •pens of store wethers, especially 4-tOoths, and a good yarding of pigs was cleared at late rates. We quote: Medium fat bullocks, £l3 4s to £l4 3s; light fat bullocks, £l2 5s to £l3; heavy fat cows, £9 10s to £lO 4s; medium, £8 to £9; light, £6 to £7 7s; fat hoggets, 22s 4d to 24s 4d; fat ewes, to 16s Gd; fat wethers, 26 s 5d to 27s 7d; store wethers; 19s to 25s sd. Pigs: Heavy baconers, £3 17s to £4 2s; medium, £3 10s to £3 15s'; light, £3 3s to £3 Gs; heavy porkers, £2 15s to £3 4s; light, £2 5s to £2 10s; slips, 30s to 355; weaners; 20s to 255. 1

Daigety and Company Ltd. Messrs Daigety and Company report having held their weekly sale at Frankton saleyards yesterday as under: —There was a large-yarding of fat cattle including a choice line of prime bullocks, prices were °n a par with last week. We sold prime bullocks at up to £l3 14s; light weight fat steers, £ll 3s to £l2 2s; choice young cow's and heifers, to £ll 2s Gd; good young cows and heifers, £9 to £lO ss; aged and inferior cows, £7 10s to £9 ss; light cows, £G to £7 2s 6d. Very few store cattle were yarded. Forward conditioned cows sold at up to £G 10s. A pen of mixed quality yearling steers, £5 10s. There was a large yarding of fat sheep, prime fat wethers sold up to 295; extra prime fat wethers, 2Gs to 275; unfinished wethers, 24s to 255; fat ewes, to 18s; forward woolly lambs, 16s 9d. There was a medium yarding of both fat and store pigs. Fats sold at improved rates whilst stores sold at late rates. Heavy baconers, £3 14s to £4 Is; medium do, £3 8s to £3 12s; best porkers, £2 17s to £3 3s; light do, £2 11s to £2 15s; large stores, £1 15s to £2 4s; slips, £1 8s to £1 13s; best weaners, £1 2s to £1 ss; small do, IGs to 18s..

Loan and Mercantile. The New. Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report: At our first Frankton sale for the new year yesterday we submitted a good entry of fat cattle, sheep and pigs. Beef remainedl on a par with late rates in the earlier part of the sales, hut cased off towards the finish. We quote: Fat bullocks £l2 15s to £l3 10s; 'lighter fat ditto, £ll 10s to £l2 10s; fat cows, £9 to £lO 2s Gd; meclium fat cows, £7 6s to £8 8s; others, £6 to £6 15s; 3yr. P.A. steers, 18 2s 6d to £8 16s; 18-months to 2yr. P.A. steers, £7 14s; 2yr. Shorthorn deers, £7; store cows, £4 12s Gd to 15 3s; fat wethers, £1 7s 6d; fat aoggets, £1 ss; forward lambs 17s Gd to 19s'; store lambs, 15s 6d. Pigs: Heavy baconers made £3 11s to £3 18s; medium ditto, £3 6s to £3 9s; heavy porkers, £2 16s to £3 Is; light ditto, £2 8s to £2 11s; good stores, Cl 14s to £1 17s; slips, £1 9s to £1 12s; weaners, 17s to £1 3s 6d.

Q. W. Verco® and Co., Ltd. Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Co., Ltd., report having held their sale at Frankton yesterday, when a small yarding of ox and a good yarding of cow beef came forward. Ox beef sold on a par with rates ruling before Christmas, while cow and heifer beef was easier. Quotations: Mediumweight fat bullocks, £l4 Is to £l4 6s; heavy fat cows, £9 10s to £lO os; me-dium-weight fat cows, £8 15s to £9 os; light fat cows, £6 12s 6d to £7 10s; heavy fat runners, £3 17s 6d to £5 14s; fresh conditioned cows, £4 10s to £5 10s; Shorthorn cows close to profit, £7 10s to £8 15s. Sheep were penned in large numbers, prices being about equal to ruling rates before the holidays. Heavy fat wethers sold from 27s 7d to 28s lOd; light fat wethers, 26s 7d; store wethers, 25s Id; fat ewes, 17s. Pigs came forward in small numbers, and sold at late rates. Heavy baconers made £3 15s to £4; light baconers, £3 5s tq £3 14s; heavy porkers, £2 10s to £3 3s; light porkers, £2 2s to £2 8s; slips, 28s to 365; weaners, 20s to 24s 64.
