MOTORING ACCIDENTS.
SUCCUMBED TO INJURIES MARRIED WOMAN’S DEATH. CAR WENT OVER BANK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ROTORUA, Wednesday. Mrs Alice Coupe (41), of Petone, died last night in King George V. Hospital as the result of injuries received on December 30 when a car driven by J. Williamson, of Petone, went over a bank at Wairakei. Mesdames Williamson and Lockwood are still in hospital. The car. rolled down an 80ft bank, spilling.out the occupants in the descent. > An Inquest will be held to-morrow. COLLISION AT HUNTLY. PASSENGERS ESCAPE INJURY.
lIUNTLY, Tuesday. A oollislon between a heavy service oar driven by Mr Henry A. Smith and a private car driven by Mr F. Woodhams, of Te Kauwbata, ocourred at Suttie’s Crossing, Huntly, last evening. Both cars were considerably damaged. Mr Smith’s car went through the railway fence and across the railway line, coming to rest on the eastern side of the track. Fortunately no one was hurt.
OAR OVER A BANK. BOY SEVERELY INJURED. GISBORNE, Tuesday. A car .driven by Mr H. Lambert, East Coast health inspector, who was accompanied by his two sons, ran 20ft down a bank. Mr Lambert and one son escaped with cuts and a shaking, but the other son was more severely injured.
RACING CAR OAPBIZEB. TWO MEN HURT. DARGAVILLE, Tuesday. An amateur-made racing car, driven by Mr Mervyn McCarroll, who was accompanied by Mr A. Cates in the driver’s seat and Mr Jack Elliott on •the back, came to grief. The car was making a quick turn when one of the wheels collapsed and the car turned over. Messrs MoGarroll and Cates were pinned underneath and Mr Elliott was thrown clear. It was found that Mr McCarroll had been severely crushed 'and Mr Cates was severely bruised. The car was extensively 'damaged.
LORRY STRUCK BY TRAIN. •TWO OCCUPANTS KILLED. INVERCARGILL, Tuesday. The level crossing at the Mokotua railway station was the scene of a serious smash late this afternoon, when the special train in which the Minister of Railways, the Hon. W. B. Taverner, was travelling, struck a motor-lorry containing two men and a little girl. Mr Alexander William Kelly, a carrier, aged 31 years, received severe injuries to the head and one leg was broken. He died in the hospital this evening. ■His daughter, Ethel Kelly, aged seven years, had a leg broken and was suffering from shock' and bruises. She died later in the hospital. The other occupant of the lorry •was Mr Thomas Phillips, a labourer, aged 32 years. He was badly bruised.
COLILISION WITH TRAIN. MOTHER AND DAUGHTER INJURED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A car driven by John Minchin, of Lower llutt, with his wife and young daughter accompanying him, had a collision with a train at the entrance to the new railway workshops at Lower Hutt. The daughter sustained severe injuries to the 'left leg and shock, and! Mrs Minchin received injuries to the head, concussion, and shock. Mr Minchin escaped without injury.
