CHARGE OF ASSAULT.
CHILD KISSED BY MAN. ACCOUNTANT FINED £lO. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. Mr. Hunt. 5.M.," fined Cecil Rollings Green, aged 59, accountant, who recently arrived from Canada, £lO, with an alternative of one month’s imprisonment, on a ciiarge of assaulting a girl aged six, by kissing her. According: to the sub-inspector, Green found some children playing on the Dcvonport Beach. He talked to the little girl, bought her an icc cream, and kissed her. The mother of the child said that when her daughter returned home she had to bathe the child’s mouth, which was swollen. The child said the man had kissed her. Counsel for the defence urged that there was nothing sinister in the man’s act. Ho had a witness who said there was nothing wrong.
