An internal train conveying foreign consular officials and journalists for the purpose of ascertaining the actual conditions at the scene of the recent Soviet military operations in Western Manchuria to-day is reported to have returned from Chalanlan. The mission, which has been abandoned,- stated that Red troops threatened the train in the event of a further advance. The real position is therefore obscure.
