NUTT BY-ELECTION.
MR W. NASH LEADING. ISSUE STILL IN DOUBT. 600 VOTES TO BE COUNTED. (By Telegraph.—PTess Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The by-election for the Hutt electorate, rendered necessary by the appointment of the Hon. T. M. Wilford as High Commissioner, was held today, and, with about GOO votes still to be counted, the Labour candidate, Mr W. Nash, lias a lead of 15G over the United Party candidate, Mr J. Kerr. The figures are:— W. Nash (Labour) .... 4793 J. Kerr (United) 4637 H. J. Johnston (Reform). . 2368 Majority for Nash .... 136 There are 608 absentee votes to come, which may affect the result as between .Messrs Nash and Kerr.
