TRAFFIC AT FRANKTON
DECLINE IN PASSENGERS. GOODS REVENUE INCREASEDAN INTERESTING COMPARISON. During the period from April 1 to December 7 the passenger traffic at Frankton has shown a marked decrease on that for the corresponding period of last year- The following returns with the figures for the corresponding period of last year show the extent of passenger traffic at the station during that time: —
The railage of cattle and calves to Frankton showed little alteration in the past eight months, from April 1 to December 7, over the corresponding period last year, 7,530 being handled compared with 7,850 last year. There was a slight increase in sheep, while" timber activities shows a marked decline. A substantial improvement in the quantity of goods handled is mainly responsible for the satisfactory improvement in revenue. The following table shows the comparison between this and last year (April I—December1 —December 7) :
