DECLINE IN PASSENGERS. GOODS REVENUE INCREASEDAN INTERESTING COMPARISON. During the period from April 1 to December 7 the passenger traffic at Frankton has shown a marked decrease on that for the corresponding period of last year- The following returns with the figures for the corresponding period of last year show the extent of passenger traffic at the station during that time: —

The railage of cattle and calves to Frankton showed little alteration in the past eight months, from April 1 to December 7, over the corresponding period last year, 7,530 being handled compared with 7,850 last year. There was a slight increase in sheep, while" timber activities shows a marked decline. A substantial improvement in the quantity of goods handled is mainly responsible for the satisfactory improvement in revenue.
