SHORT VISIT TO TOWN.. TRADE WITH PACIFIC COAST. A busy time has been spent during the last few weeks by the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Industries, Commerce and Marine, who arrived in Hamilton yesterday to visit his son, Mr R, Cobbe. The Minister returned to his home at Feilding by this morning’s express. Mr Cobbe represented the Government in the welcome extended at Auckland to the Californian tourists who arrived on the Malolo. “The Americans were greatly impressed with the way they were received in this country,” added Mr Cobbe to a Times reporter to-day. “Our welcome to them was one of the best accorded, they said.” The Minister safd from conversations he had had with leading San Francisco business men there seemed every prospect of fostering a healthy trade on the Pacific Coast. A trade commissioner for New Zealand had already been appointed to Canada, and In the near future- he believed the Government would appoint a commis-

sioner to the coast. Mr Cobbe had an interesting chat with Lord Cralgavon at the Hamilton Hotel last night. Being Irish, Mr Cobbe had much in common with the ' Ulster peer, and a wide range of topics was discussed.
