A member of the Farmers’ Union at Wanganui, when discussing the £IOO bonus to politicians, said it would cost the country about £BOOO, a mere drop in the bucket, but he thought that the money could have been put to better use if it had been allowed in the way of a maternity bonus to help keep the cradles full. It would be some little encouragement, he added, in these hard times.
