The lorry was going at full speed, and it is a miracle that the boy was not killed. When picked up he was unconscious and had some nasty cuts in the head.

CAR OVERTURNB. SEVEIRAL PEOPLE INJURED. CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. A motor-car overturned as a result of a skid on loose shingle yesterday. Desmond John Pidgeon, son of the owner of the ear, Mr W. L. Pidgeon, received serious injury. Two fingers were cut off and he may also lose his thumb. Only bruises and shock were suffered by two 'other passengers- Mr Pidgeon had his hands cut in breaking the windows to extricate his family. Mrs Pidgeon suffered badly from shock. One of her stockings was burnt off by acid from the battery.

CAR OVER A BANK. TRAVELLER FRACTURES SHOULDER OPOTIKI, Saturday. Two Auckland travellers, Messrs Roglson and Tarleton, met with a motor accident to-day after leaving Opotiki for Whakatane. Th'e car suddenly skidded and swerved into a tree, then going over a bank with a drop of 15 feet. Mr Tarleton had his shoulder fractured.
