FOUND DEAD.

1 TE RAPA FARMER'B END. VERDICT OP NATURAL CAUSES. An Inquest was conducted to-day by the District Coroner, Mr Wyvern ■Wilson, S.M., into the circumstances of the death of a farmer named James Leggett, 58, who was found dead at his residence, Vardon Road, Te Rapa, yesterday afternoon. Dr. T. A. Milroy said he was oalled to the house about 3 p.m., yesterday, the telephone message being to come urgently to see a man who wa3 thought to be dead. He saw the body lying In a small shed at the back of the house, covered with rugs. The man had been dead for about one and a-half hours. The doctor said there was nothing unusual about the state of the body and nothing to suggest death from poisoning. Witness said he rang the police and communicated the circumstances. Deceased’s daughter told •witness her father had received medical attention two months ago. Witness thought it probable deceased had had some heart trouble. Hi 3 condition was probably myocardial, a degeneration of the muscles of the heart. A life of exposure and hard work and worry tended to produce such a state. Witness was told that six weeks ago deceased had gastric influenza. Annie Violet Leggett, daughter of deceased, said her lute father was 58 years of age. He was a farmer. His wife survived him. There were nine children. For some time his health had not been good, and several months ago he saw a doctor. He returned and said the doctor told him he had strained himself. He .< had fallen off a cycle about that time. He often complained of feeling sick. He had not been well since he was tossed by a bull five or six years ago. About six weeks ago he had influenza, but he worked on all the time. A verdict was returned of death from myocarditis accelerated by the toxic effects of influenza.
