THEATRE BOOKINGS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I note comment in your paper this, evening concerning the hooking of seats for the theatre and its reference to country visitors. Now, sir, if the statements made were correct the explanation would have much to commend it in the interests of country patrons, but I claim an incident which was brought to my notice in connection with the booking of the seats for “Journey’s End” disproves the claim made. My friends in question, who live 12 miles out, booked their seats by mail on the Thursday previous to the play in a given area on the ground floor. They were placed back in the M seatß on the top floor, while some friends of theirs from Te Awamutu booked their seats on the evening of the play and were placed in a seat behind them- This, to my mind, shows that no consideration was given to the country party, and it will require a lot of explanation to show that the position related was accidental. No consideration 1,0 the early applicants was given. I, as a townsman, claim that our country folk deserve every consideration, and it is incidents like these that cause the cleavage between town and country and which prompt me to draw public attention to such matters. —I am, etc., . A-M.
