THE ASIATICS.

(To the Editor.) sir,—Apparently neither “J.A.8.” nor Rev. A. J. Seamer realise that by the admittance of Chinese wives and families peaceful penetration would commence. The Increase in Asiatic population would mean that these people would compete with Europeans Jn the trades and professions and gradually plish them out. This would lead to race hatred and a struggle for mastery which would not further “J.A.B.’s” ends, even if the social status of the Asiatics were raised and they were mutually fair. Either we must have a limited number of Chinese males in this country or a rapidly growing oolony which would ultimately strangle us. The latter course “J.A.8.” advises us to take. Ilis case is foolish as it is weak, and I would advise him not, to pursue it further.—l am, etc., W.N.Z.
