MINISTER AT OTTAWA. CREDENTIALS PRESENTED. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyrlg-ht.) (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) (Received Oct. 22, 10.45 a.m.) OTTAWA, Oct. 21. Dir. Iyemasa 'Tokugawa, the first Japanese Minister to Canada was presented with his 'credentials at the Government House to-day. i

THE MINISTER’S MISSION. PRESERVATION OF PEACE. DEVELOPMENT OF TRADE. (Australian Press Assn. —Unfled Service.) (Received Oct. 22, 12.25 p.m.) OTTAWA, Oct. 21. Emphasising his two-fold mission as that of the preservation of peace and the development of trade between the two countries, (Mr Tokugawa received newspaper representatives at his legation residence. He said: Japan stands for peace on the pacific; therefore she will welcome any measure of disarmament which can be effected at the Five Power London Conference. lam glad to say at the moment that there are no pressing questions of a vexatious nature for me to take up with the Canadian Government. The Japanese Government’s attitude on immigration is that until your Dominion is prepared to welcome more of our people as immigrants there is little use of us urging the matter. Japan is favourable to disarmament;”’but complete disarmament is impossible at the present time; it is all a question of balance. Nobody doubts the merits of the Singapore Naval Base from the British point of view for the protection of the trade routes, and according to my belief the Japanese Government never from the first had any fears concerning the base.”
