Girl Guides' Gorier.

Dear Guides and Brownies, — What gorgeous weather you had for your meetings last week-end. Is Saturday afternoon the popular day for them? Peter often sees the oompanles out and about then. We want lots more guide news next week.— PETER PAN.

Mrs Toombs, District Commissioner of Qlrl Quldes, has received the following letter from Lady Baden-Powell, Chief Guide, and has asked Peter Pan to publish It In our Guide Corner:— The Girl Guides Association, (Incorporated by Royai Charter.) 25, Buckingham Palace Road, LONDON, SAV. 1. September Ist., 1929. Dear Mrs Toombs, — I expect you will be wondering why you have not heard from me before now, about that perfectly lovely present you have sent me of photographs of Guides and places In New Zealand'. I have received It this week, from the hands of one of your nice New Zealand Scouts who came to our house in Hampshire for a brief half hour on their journey through England. I cannot tell you how touched I am by your kind thought for me, and I am so delighted to have this beautiful book with Its Jolly pictures of your Guides, and I really don’t know how to thank you and all your people for the very kind good wishes and the generous thought that prompted the sending of the album. It gives me a lovely Impression of how “alive” guiding Is with you, and I shall value the book so much as coming from the far away bit of my Guide family 1 Will you be very kind, and convey to those associated with you in the' sending of this book, my very warmest thanks for their kindness, and let them know how fully I appreciate the gift. I have had the good fortune to meet a fair number of Guiders from New Zealand from time to time, and I have had such nice reports also of your doings from Miss Wilson (who has lately returned) and others. I look forward to some day coming myself to see you all, and meanwhile may I send my deepest thanks and very warm good wishes to you in all your work and to your co-workers of all kinds in our sisterhood in your area. A! ours very sincerely, CLAVE BADEN-POWELL. Peggy Kennedy, First Frankton Company, writes: First we were dismissed to our corners, where we had a lesson in first aid. Then our captain told us to get around In a ring because she had some work for us, and the work was to roll the streamers up from the party on Friday night. We then had Morse, and after Morse we had the camp-list game. After the game we had inspection, and then we were dismissed for home. What a finicky Job It must have been rolling up all the streamers. How is your Morse going? We are looking forward to more news from you, Frankton Company.—Peter Pan. Robin Patrol, Putaruru Company, writes: Last week we had our corners decorated, and they all looked very pretty. Commissioner Harris was there, and after enrolling our new captain she enrolled a recruit. We sat in horseshoe formation while Commissioner explained fully the ten Guide Laws. She then inspected our corners and presented us with the Company Cup, which we hold for the month, as ours was the best corner. Later we served afternoon tea to the committee, and were then, dismissed. A number of us have nearly passed our second class test. On Sunday we attended a church parade at the Methodist Church. Our Browines will

hold their third meeting on Saturday. There are only eleven in the pack yet, but we have hopes for more. Well done, Robins on winning the Company Cup for last month! We are looking forward to some Brownies news, and hope that the pack will grow quickly now.—Peter Pan. Bantam Patrol, First Claudolands Company, writes: Last Saturday we had the first meeting of our Brownies. There were about ten present, but we hope that more will come each Saturday. It will be very nice to have a pack of Brownies attached to our company. The Robin Patrol had a—• sweet stall in the hall from 2.15 to 2.30, and they made about 7s on it. The money is to go towards taking the girls to „the Dominion camp, because every little bit helps. In the afternoon we spent about half an hour in our corners, in which time we had patrol corner inspection. After this we went outside to play games. First of all each patrol had to think of some original nature game. We were only given three minutes to play each game, as there were five to play. Then captain gave us each a slip of paper on which was written such things as a broken arm or a cut on the arni (arterial), and we each had to find a patient and treat her in the right way. This finished, we played some Morse and knot games, which proved very interesting. As we had been outside for some time wc went inside and had a sing-song. Then wc sang “Taps” and were dismissed, in reference to your message to us about writing to tile Guide Corner, we have in our company appointed a Guide who tells each patrol when it is their turn to writ?. Such a long, Interesting letter you wrote us this week, Bantams. What a thrill starting Brownies! We hope the pack swells in number during the coining weeks. Write again soon and tell us some more news. —Peter Pan. “Moonboam,” Robin Patrol, First Matamata Company, writes: Commissioner Barry enrolled live Tenderfoots last Friday. They were the first class Brownies who had flown up. Two were from the Fuchsia Patrol, one from tlie Thrush, and two from the Robins. After ten minutes in our patrol corners 'we had -ail exciting game of “Dog and the Bone." Wc are holding a Paddy’s Market at the end of tills month to raise funds for our representative for the Wellington camp. Wouldn’t it be splendid if we all could go I But of course that is impossible. / ' What a happy time it will be for your representative at the camp, "Moonbeam.” We hope the Paddy 3 Market is a success. —Peter Pan,
