ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION.

DISCLAIMER BY NORWAY.

NOT SEARCHING FOR NEW LAND.

SCIENTIFIC. EXPLORATION ONLY. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) (Received October 11, 9.40 a.m.) OSLO, October 10. Dealing with comments in foreign newspapers regarding the objects of the Norwegian Antarctic expedition, local papers assert that secrecy does not exist. There is no competition, as the need for it does not exist. The whaler Norwegia has been conducting scientific exploration for two years, the results of which will be publish- i ed shortly. The work continues, in- j eluding the study of whales. There 1 is no intention of searching for new land, but if unchartered unclaimed land is found the Norwegian flag will naturally be hoisted.
