SUM OF £2700 STOLEN. LEDGERS CHARRED BY HEAT. (Australian Press Association.) (Received (Jet. 9, 9.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 9. On the return of the manager to Ihe Newtown branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia it was found that the sum stolen by the safebreakers during the week-end was £2700. The heat generated by the oxyacetylcne gas used in cutting open the hack of the safe was so great that the ledgers inside were charred.
